About TIPPI Chorus
We are one of many choruses in Indiana under the umbrella of Purdue Cooperative Extension Program. Choral singers are members of Extension Homemaker Clubs in Indiana.
The choral groups were established in 1934 by Dr. Albert Stewart whose goal was to bring rural women of farm families together to make music. The program grew to include all women of Indiana.
Each county chorus has its own director and title, such as TIPPI, here in Tippecanoe County. The combined choruses are called "Melody Makers of Indiana" under the direction of Dr. Scott Buchannan, music director at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.
We are a unique group, celebrating 75 years of existence in 2009.
